Pérez y Cía strengthens its presence in the Americas with the acquisition of the SPC group.
The SPC Group has two divisions: SPC Shipping and SPC Logistics. The former specializes in Regular Line and Tramp Shipping Agency services, as well as Project Cargo and Chartering, with its own offices in San José and in the ports of Caldera in the Pacific and Limón/Moín in the Caribbean. It is also licensed to serve other smaller Costa Rican ports such as Golfito and Punta Arenas. The SPC Logistics division focuses its activity on Freight Forwarding services (sea, air and land), Customs Management and Logistics Solutions.
The director of the new offices of Pérez y Cía. in Costa Rica will be Christian Ruiz, founder of the SPC group and a recognized professional in the sector, especially in the area of Project Cargo and Freight Forwarding.
According to Javier Ferrer, president and CEO of Grupo Pérez y Cía., this operation not only confirms the leadership of Pérez y Cía. as “Regular and Tramp Shipping Agent” and “Chartering and Project Cargo Specialist” in the region, but also strengthens the international presence of the Group, adding to the expansion of MPG Logistics, a forwarding company of the Group, which with already a consolidated presence in America and Europe decided at the end of last year to establish itself also in China with offices in the ports of Ningbo, Shanghai and Shenzhen.
With this new acquisition, Grupo Pérez y Cía. continues to expand its presence in the Americas and the Caribbean, with its own offices in Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Aruba, Curaçao, Panama, Colombia, and now Costa Rica.
