Pérez y Cía. Group concludes a strong 2024, reflecting its ongoing efforts to strengthen its global presence and diversify its operations.
The Group’s companies reported a turnover of €412 million, with a proportional EBITDA of €70 million. This growth was driven by a significant increase in freight rates, which averaged 96% higher than in 2023 (FRGHGLOB Index), along with the strong performance of the offshore industry.
This increase in freight costs is attributed to various factors, such as route diversions due to conflicts in the Red Sea and restrictions in the Panama Canal caused by drought, which have impacted commercial routes, thus absorbing the excess space supply seen in 2023.
Throughout the year, geographical diversification has been key to consolidating the Group’s global presence. In line with this strategy, Pérez y Cía. Group has expanded its operations into new countries and expects to be operating in 37 countries by 2025, further enhancing its international reach and operational capacity. Additionally, the Group has welcomed over 200 new professionals, bringing its total workforce to 1,500 employees.
In terms of inorganic operations, the Group has undertaken strategic acquisitions that have reinforced its structure and expanded its service offering, further consolidating its presence in the logistics and maritime sectors.
Among the most significant operations is the merger of four of the Group’s logistics subsidiaries (MPG Group, Carmar Soluciones Logísticas, Carmar Maritime Services, and Copitrans) with Martico Group. This integration has resulted in a new logistics group that significantly enhances Pérez y Cía. Group’s capabilities in transportation and refrigerated cargo management. With operations in 22 countries, a team of 900 professionals, 200 trucks, and 14 strategically located warehouses, the new entity strengthens the Group’s service offering. Gonzalo Pérez-Maura, CEO of Pérez y Cía. Group, will also assume the role of CEO of the new group.
As part of this expansion, the Group has acquired EUCONSA, a leading company specializing in the intermodal transport of bulk chemical and petrochemical products. EUCONSA operates three intermodal terminals in Catalonia, Murcia, and Algeciras, supported by a modern fleet and a highly skilled team.
Additionally, Remolques Unidos (“RUSA”) has strengthened its presence in the Port of Santander through the acquisition of Remolques y Servicios Santander (“REYSER Santander”). This transaction, which includes the purchase of the tugboats Clara G and El Península, enhances RUSA’s capabilities in the port, aligning with its growth and expansion strategy.
In 2024, Britoil Offshore Services has continued expanding its fleet, acquiring seven new tugboats, bringing its total fleet to 64 vessels. Furthermore, Britoil has signed an agreement with Seas Geosciences to convert the BOS Princess into a geotechnical drilling vessel, reaffirming its commitment to renewable energy initiatives.
These acquisitions and mergers strengthen the Group’s position in a challenging market, establishing it as a key player in the industry and unlocking new opportunities for growth and expansion.
Despite the macroeconomic and geopolitical challenges ahead, Pérez y Cía. Group, with more than 170 years of experience, maintains a debt-free capital structure, providing significant financial flexibility to continue advancing its sustainable growth and diversification strategy. This financial strength allows the Group to face the future with confidence and reaffirm its commitment to responsible, long-term development.
Gonzalo Pérez-Maura, CEO of Pérez y Cía. Group, emphasized that “2024 has been a year of strong growth for the Group, fueled by a sharp rise in freight rates and a solid performance in the offshore sector. This success has allowed us to strengthen our business while successfully completing five inorganic operations. Looking ahead to 2025, we anticipate a highly uncertain geopolitical landscape, and we will continue investing in top talent while maintaining a solid capital structure.”
Javier Ferrer, Executive Chairman of Pérez y Cía. Group, added that the Group’s commitment is to “drive sustainable and innovative growth while maintaining a prudent debt profile, a key factor in an increasingly challenging global environment expected in 2025.”
Pérez y Cía. Group remains a sponsor of the Spanish SailGP team, the current champion of this prestigious sailing competition.
