The entire Group is proud to celebrate the 170th anniversary as one of the largest maritime and logistics groups, with more than 45 offices in 15 countries and a team of over 1,000 professional and committed staff.
More than 200 partners, customers and friends joined the celebration in a downtown hotel located in a unique spot in the centre of Rotterdam and at the foot of the Erasmus bridge, with spectacular views, creating a great atmosphere where they presented their sponsored SailGP spanish team, confirming its commitment to the advancement of Spanish sport and ecological sustainability.
For Javier Ferrer, CEO of the Group, the achievements of an organization are the result of the joint effort of each individual who is part of it. Celebrating this 170th anniversary is a milestone, but this amazing journey would not been possible without the dedicated commitment and support of all parts involved getting the group here today, recognising the important role played by each employee, customer and partner.
In recent years the Group has followed an ESG strategy, which remains a cornerstone of the Group’s strategy. Pérez y Cía. Group has continued to make progress on its environmental commitments, focusing on the total elimination of sulphur emissions (SO2) and the reduction of CO2 emissions, in addition to the introduction of new energy saving models.
In August 2022, Pérez y Cía. Group became Official Sponsor of the Spanish SailGP team until 2025, a sports competition of high international impact, leader in technical innovation and committed to sustainability. SailGP launched in 2021 the “Impact Ligue”, a pioneering initiative in the world to incorporate sustainable commitment in this sport by accelerating the transition to clean energy, by recognizing the different positive actions carried out by international teams, including the team sponsored by the Group, to reduce their environmental impact and carbon footprint.
Protecting the climate, promoting clean energy access, and supporting energy transition are key pillars for Pérez y Cía. Group and its mission, so each company of the Group is very proud to partner initiatives as these taken by SailGP.
During the cocktail they proudly presented the two Spanish Impulse sailors Diego Botin and Florian Trittel.
Diego Botin became Driver for the Spain SailGP Team in Season 3, having previously been their flight controller and Florian Trittel has the combined role of co-skipper and wing trimmer for the Spain SailGP Team. He is no stranger to moving at high speeds across the water as he is an accomplished sailor who has won numerous high-profile kiteboard racing competitions.
Many of the event attendees were able to talk in a very pleasant and relaxed way with the two sailors exchanging anecdotes, sharing experiences and expressing what the expectations are for the new season that begins in a few weeks.
